Community Guidelines and Safety

Last updated

ThaiLovely is for adults who want to meet people in Thailand, whether it is home or somewhere you are getting to know. These guidelines keep it kind, real and safe. They are part of our Terms of Use, and they apply to your profile, photos, posts, comments and messages.

Our rules

Adults only

You must be 18 or older. Never post anything that involves or sexualises a minor.

Be yourself

Use recent photos that clearly show you. Do not pretend to be someone else, use someone else's photos, or run more than one account.

Be respectful

No harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, or unwanted sexual messages. No hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability or illness. "No" means no, including when someone stops replying.

Keep it appropriate

No nudity, sexually explicit content, or graphic violence in photos, videos, profiles or posts.

No paid relationships or selling

Do not offer or ask for sex work, escort services, or companionship in exchange for money or gifts. Do not advertise, sell, promote other services or social accounts, recruit, or post links for commercial gain.

No scams or money requests

Never ask other members for money, gifts, cryptocurrency, investments, loans or bank details, for any reason.

Nothing illegal

No drugs, weapons, human trafficking, gambling or anything else that is illegal where you or the other person are.

Respect privacy

Do not share another person's personal information, photos or conversations without their permission.

No spam or automation

No bots, scripts, mass messaging, or fake engagement.

How we enforce them

New photos, videos and profile text are checked automatically and can be held for a moderator before anyone else sees them. Reports go to our moderation team, who aim to act within 24 hours. Depending on what happened, we may:

  • remove the content or send a warning;
  • suspend the account for 1, 3 or 5 days;
  • ban the account for 30, 90 or 180 days, or permanently.

Serious violations, such as threats of violence, scams, or anything involving a minor, lead to an immediate permanent ban. We report child sexual exploitation and credible threats to the relevant authorities. A ban applies to the person, not just the account: deleting an account does not lift it, and banned people cannot sign up again.

If you think we got a decision wrong, write to [email protected] and a person will look at it again.

Report and block

  • Report a profile, photo, post or message from its menu in the app. Reports are confidential: the other person is not told who reported them.
  • Block someone from their profile or your chat. You will no longer find or message each other. You can manage blocked members in Settings → Privacy.
  • Contact our safety team at [email protected] if you need to tell us more, or something happened outside the app.

Staying safe

While chatting

  • Keep conversations in ThaiLovely until you trust someone. Scammers often want to move to another app quickly.
  • Never send money or share bank, card or ID details, however urgent or emotional the story. Be wary of anyone who talks about investments or crypto.
  • A video call before meeting is a good way to check someone is who they say they are.
  • Be careful with intimate photos: once sent, you lose control of them.

When meeting in person

  • Meet in a busy public place, and tell a friend where you are going and who you are meeting.
  • Arrange your own transport, and keep your phone charged.
  • Watch your drink and stay in control. You can leave at any time.
  • Consent is required for any sexual activity and can be withdrawn at any moment.

In an emergency

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact the local emergency services first.

  • Thailand: police 191, ambulance 1669, tourist police 1155
  • Japan: police 110, ambulance and fire 119
  • Singapore: police 999, ambulance and fire 995

Then let us know at [email protected] so we can act on the account.
